What is FM2MIDI?
It's a FileMaker plugin that allows FileMaker Pro to send and receive real time MIDI messages including Sysex.

What version of FileMaker do you need for FM2MIDI?
FM2MIDI will work in FileMaker Pro or FileMaker Pro Advanced versions 12 through 16. A 32-bit version is available for FileMaker 12-14 and 64-bit version is available for 14-17 on Windows. The Mac version is 32-bit and 64-bit and will work with versions 12-17 on Mac OS X.

What does the FM stand for?
The FM part of FM2MIDI stands for FileMaker. Although FM is also commonly used for Frequency Modulation.

Can I record with FM2MIDI?
Not really, it only receive/process one MIDI message at a time. This makes it rather limited for recording, but just fine for working with sysex.

Does it work with my DAW?
Not really, there is no way for FM2MIDI to work directly with any DAW. However, you could create a script to export patch names for Cubase, Sonar, Reaper, Digital Performer, or copy all your patch names to the clipboard and past them into Logic. There are many ways to get your patch names out of your database and into your DAW.

Does it come as a VST, AU, or RITAS plugin?
This plugin is not a DAW plugin, it's for a database program called FileMaker Pro. Find out more about FileMaker Pro at the FileMaker web site here.

How much does it cost?
The price is yet to be determined. You will however, need a copy of FileMaker Pro or FileMaker Advanced to use the plugin. Currently it's being offered as donationware. You can download it and use it for free. If you like it and find it useful donate to help support this poor starving developer.

Is there a Librarian or Editor file for my synth?
Not many right now... Check my downloads page. If you don’t find one for your synth, you can build it yourself using FileMaker and FM2MIDI.

Is FM2MIDI compatible with 64-bit FileMaker 14?
As of version 2.1.0 FM2MIDI is available as a single universal 32-bit and 64-bit plugin for Mac and separate 32-bit and 64-bit plugins for Windows. All 3 versions are included in the download.
